Yoga Therapy

In our 1:1 sessions, we will explore how your body is moving. We will bring awareness to what is working that should be and quiet the movements that shouldn't be.  Your body is so smart that it will move in whatever way possible to complete the task you ask of it.  In some cases, compensations are good, because it helps us function and move through the day.  However, when muscles over compensate, this can lead to pain and disfunction in  our mind and body. 

Our goal will be to retrain your muscular patterns to help your body move in a more functional way.  As your awareness grows, you may begin to realize that pain is not always where the problem is!  Our brains, and the way we think and feel, have a great impact on the healing process. This is not a quick fix, but a progression into healing and learning to listen to the whispers of your body.

Together we will create an individualized program that complements your personality and fits into your lifestyle.

I am currently enrolled in a year long certified yoga therapy program. I am a yoga teacher, with over 1000 hours of teaching group classes, workshops, retreats and corporate and private yoga. I am also an Urban Zen Integrative Therapist.
I am excited to add to my knowledge of how our amazing human bodies move. And I would like to share that knowledge with you!

My first yoga therapy session: very mindful. It was really interesting to explore my body's movements with such precision. Noticing how it felt to be in my shoulder and what happened when I brought my arms over my head. Or what muscles engaged when I brought my leg toward the ceiling – what are my hip flexors doing now? DeEtta's guidance was extremely gentle and present. I appreciated her accepting way of letting me make discoveries without telling what I “should” feel.
​After our session, I felt like I was made of earth and sky. Very soft in my joints, muscles and heart, and very connected to the earth at the same time.
